Sustainable Building Practices Recognition

Larkfleet Group has been commended in regional and national industry awards for its sustainable building practices.

The company has won a silver accolade in the 'built environment and architectural heritage' category of the prestigious Green Apple Awards. The Green Apple Awards are run by the Green Organisation, an independent environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

As a result of the company's reward, Larkfleet managing director Karl Hick has qualified as an 'international green hero' and will share his environmental expertise with like-minded people all over the world.

Karl attended a prestigious ceremony at the House of Commons earlier this month to be presented with a National Green Plaque. The plaque celebrates the company's recognition as one of the leaders in making a positive contribution to our built environment.

In addition, Larkfleet recently won the 'green award' category in the regional Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Larkfleet was up against competition from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton. Having won the regional award, it is now in the running for the national Chamber Award in this category.

Larkfleet has also recently been highly commended at the national Housebuilder Awards in the 'sustainable developer of the year' category.

Larkfleet Group is committed to delivering sustainable communities. Its recent work on local retrofit projects shows how it is not only building highly energy efficient homes - the company claims that no other housebuilder can match its record in energy efficiency - but also helping to make the current housing stock more sustainable through the use of renewable energy.

Larkfleet Group company FE Peacock has recently qualified as an accredited installer of photovoltaic (PV) panels through the Microgeneration Certified Scheme.

Photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps are just some examples of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies that Larkfleet includes in its properties.

Karl Hick commented: "The award successes demonstrate just how Larkfleet Group is committed to providing sustainable housing and communities. We are proud to meet new building regulations and environmental codes well in advance of requirements, whilst remaining competitive in a challenging market. Our new status as accredited installers of photovoltaic (PV) panels will allow the company to provide further renewable energy services to our customers."
